Enjoy Natural-Looking Teeth With Implants

Dental implants are unique because they are the only tooth replacement that restores an entire tooth both above and below the gum line. Traditional dentures and bridges only bring back the crown of a tooth, not the root, which makes them much more unstable and prone to sliding around.

With dental implants, a titanium prosthetic root is placed directly into the jawbone, and this is used to support a restorative crown or bridge that shows in the smile. This not only makes implants extremely secure, but it also means they don’t require support from the surrounding teeth and gums, which is a common cause of discomfort with other replacements.

Because implants are built just like natural teeth, they look, function, and feel like natural teeth as well, creating something that is indistinguishable from nature. And, the new roots actually provide internal support for the jawbone, which can stop or even reverse the bone loss that is so common after tooth loss. Call Carlson Dental Group to schedule an appointment.

Indications for Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great solution to replace teeth that were lost due to tooth decay, periodontal disease, or injury. For many years, the only treatment options available for people with missing teeth were bridges and dentures.

Dental implants give us an option to restore individual teeth, multiple teeth or even a full set of teeth - all without damaging or putting extra strain on any neighboring teeth.

The Dental Implant Process

Once you’ve scheduled a consultation appointment with your Stillwater, MN implant dentist, Dr. Carlson will perform an examination to see if you qualify for dental implants. Most people are qualified candidates, but adequate jawbone strength and structure is necessary to support the implant.

A bone graft procedure may be recommended if there isn’t enough bone density at the precise location where you need a dental implant. Depending on your needs either one of our dentists or a local dental specialist will initiate your dental implant placement procedure.

After adequate healing of the bone around the dental implant has happened - usually 3-4 months - your dentist at Carlson Dental Group will restore your smile with your final crown, bridge or denture.
